Even before the re-opening of the Spa Building in 1998, about ten volunteers were involved in the planning of the Art Centre. Since then, this group has grown gradually to comprise about 85 persons today. There has been a waiting list for several years. Volunteers are a very important part of everyday life at the centre. Most take part in shift plans, and small groups handle tasks in connection with exhibition changes and events or in the café.

Active ambassadors
The Art Centre volunteers are both an active part of the cultural production in Silkeborg and excellent ambassadors for the exhibition venue. As a volunteer you are given great value in regard to group relations and in the experience of being involved in an institution like the Art Centre Silkeborg Bad – a very notable factor in the cultural scene and the reputation of Silkeborg.

Work assignments and events
Volunteers are given an introduction to the work and the expectations to them. Several times a year, they meet with other volunteers and the staff for various internal events, during which new exhibitions are viewed, and subjects of importance to the centre are discussed. Furthermore, an annual excursion is held.
